Minutes of the Panther Valley Alumni Association Meeting
DATE: April 10, 2002

LOCATION: Dew Drop Inn 

Attendance: Angelo Santore Sr., Maria Szczecina, Carla Mikovick, Bernie Ogozalek, and Joseph Blazosky

 ·           Meeting was called to order by President, Angelo Santore Sr.

·           Motion by Joseph Blazosky seconded by Maria Szczecina to approve reading of the minutes from February 20, 2002.   Motion passed.

·           Motion by Maria Szczecina seconded by Joseph Blazosky to approve the Treasurer’s reports for February 2002 and March 2002.  Motion passed.

 Payment of bills:

• All night party $100.00
• Down payment for pig roast $50.00

• Printing 125 tickets for picnic.  $10.00 in advance $15.00 at picnic.  Picnic is Saturday June 1, 2002 starting at 3 PM, with pig at 5 PM. Food – pig with baked potatoes, corn on the cob Lengyels soup, hot dogs, and wings.  Maria will make posters.

• Scholarships will be reviewed May 14, 2002 6 PM at high school library. (This was changed to the 13^th, because Award Night is the 14^th).

•  Angelo will send out letter to members from 2001 you haven’t paid for 2002.

 New business:

·        Angelo will be resigning from Presidency effective June 30, 2002.

Attendance: Angelo Santore Sr., Maria Szczecina, Carla Mikovick, Janet Kupec, Virginia and Michael Tatusko, Nancy Van Horn, Bernie Ogozalek, Ken Markovich

·           Meeting was called to order by President, Angelo Santore Sr.

·           Motion by Maria Szczecina seconded by Nancy Van Horn to approve treasurer’s reports for January 2002.   Motion passed.

New business:

      A.     Summer of 2002 picnic will be Saturday June 1, 2002 at the Nesquehoning Fire Co. Picnic grounded.  Cost will be $10.00 for advance and $15.00 at the picnic.  Frank Kattner will again have the pig roast.  Motion carried
 B.     Motion was by Bernie Ogozalek seconded by Ken Markovich to donate $100.00 to the class of 2002 all night party.  Motion carried.
C.     Motion by Bernie Ogozalek seconded by Virginia Tatusko to award $25.00 for every 2002 senior that scored 600 or more on their SATs. Both verbal and math. Motion carried
D.     Motion by Maria Szczecina seconded by Nancy Van Horn to award two $1,000 scholarships to the class of 2002.  Motion carried
Scholarship deadline will be May 10, 2002.
E.      Motion by Bernie Ogozalek seconded by Ken Markovich to permit a mailing to 2001 members that have paid their 2002 dues. Motion carried.

·            Motion by Joe Blazosky seconded Jeff Szczecina to approve the minutes from August 13, 2001 meeting.  Motion passed.
·            Motion by Janet Kupec seconded by Michael Tatusko to approve treasurer’s reports for August, September, and November.  Motion passed.

Motion by Ginny Tatusko seconded by Jeff Szczecina for Maria Szczecina ($100.00) food for homecoming party and Sam Yasson  ($20.00) tip for clean up.  Motion passed

            A.  Set June 22, 2001 as date for next year picnic.

·            Motion by Joe Blazosky seconded Carla Mikovick to approve the minutes from July 10, 2001.  Motion passed.
·            Motion by Janet Kupec seconded by Nancy Van Horn to approve treasurer’s report for July 2001.   Motion passed.

·        Post office PO box - $45.00 for year

·        Thank you from students receiving scholarship award and SAT.

      ·         Golf shirt sale - 6
·        Need sponsors for web page - $10.00 for month.

      ·         Will not be having dunk tank at Nesquehoning Fire Co.
·        Memberships drive for 2002.

Motion by Joe Blazosky seconded by Nancy Van Horn to eliminate membership cards.  Motion passed
Motion by Maria Szczecina, seconded Carla Mikovick for approval to purchased labels, have letters copied, and to purchase self-sealing envelopes for 2002 membership drive.  Motion passed. 

·        Alumni stand at home football games.

Motion by Joe Blazosky, seconded Maria Szczecina to purchase plastic cups and small plastic football to sell at stand not to exceed $600.00 total.  Motion passed.

The plastic mugs will be your free admission the to the Homecoming party the Sports Zoo following the homecoming game with Tamaqua Oct. 19^th.

  New business:

 A. Saturday June 22, 2002 is the tentative date for next summer Alumni picnic.

·            Motion by Bernie Ogozalek seconded Nancy Van Horn to approve the minutes from April 4, 2001.   Motion passed.
·            Motion by Maria Szczecina seconded by Angelo Santore to approve treasurer’s report for April 2001.  Motion passed.

A: Thank you from Kosciolek family. 

Committee reports:
A: Scholarship – Will review Thursday, May 17, 2001 6 PM high school.
B: SAT awards – Will have names for Awards Night May 22, 2001.
C: summer picnic – June 23, 2001 at Nesquehoning Fire Co grounds. Colin Jones is set to entertain. Pig roast is set with corn on the cob and bake potato. Tickets are printed. Will receive posters on May 12, 2001.  It was decided that if 60 or more tickets were not sold by June 6, 2001 the picnic would be canceled.  That is our break-even point.
D: Basketball tournaments – Our share for each tournament will be about $800.00

Minutes of the Panther Valley Alumni Association Meeting
DATE: April 4, 2001

 Attendance: Angelo Santore Sr., Maria Szczecina, Janet Kupec, Joe Blazosky, Jeff Szczecina, Bernie Ogozalek, Nancy Van Horn, and Joseph Matukonis 
·            Meeting was called to order by President, Angelo Santore Sr.
·            Motion by Bernie Ogozalek seconded Joe Blazosky to approve the minutes from February 26, 2001.   Motion passed.
·            Motion by Maria Szczecina seconded by Joe Blazosky to approve treasurer’s report for February 2001, and March 2001.  Motion passed.

Payment of bills:
Delrose Awards - $132.00 plaque.  Plague has been giving to high school principal.  Presently in display case next to library.  Eventually will be wall mounted with light.

Communication:
A: Tracey Delpero ’75 e-mailed concerning helping with picnic.
B: Joe Matukonis ’99 e-mail asking to sit in on meeting for college assignment.

Committee reports:
A: Scholarship application – This year will require 250 word essay and education and career goals.  Also parent must sign application.  Deadline for applications will Friday May 11, 2001.  Panel will review week of May 21, 2001.
B: summer picnic – June 23, 2001 at Nesquehoning Fire Co grounds.  Motion by Joe Blazosky seconded Jeff Szczecina, to proceed with picnic activities, which include: contacting Colin Jones to play for 3 hours from 4-7 or 5-8 cost of $50.00/hour.  Contacting F & P Specialties, Inc. for go ahead with pig roast (requiring $50.00 deposit).  Poster to be made for advertisement   Motion passed. 

1.   Cost of pig roast for 100-150 people =$525-$550.
2         Tickets will be $10.00 in advance.  $12.00 at picnic.
3.      Everyone welcome.
4.      Other food hotdogs, Turkey BBQ, Soup
5.      Games – horse shoes, volleyball ??, basketball.

A.     Basketball tournaments – Motion by Jeff Szczecina seconded by Joe Blazosky to continue to look into sponsoring a boys tip-off and girls holiday tournaments.  Motion passed

Discussion -  Bernie Ogozalek and I met with Athletic Director Mike Lukac.  We will be sharing expenses and profits with the school district.
Boys Tournament will start Friday, November 30, 2001 6:00 PM with the semi-finals round.
Saturday, December 1, 2001 starting at 2PM with a Junior Varsity double header, Consolation game 6 PM and the Final game at 7:30 PM.
Boy teams  – Panther Valley, Northern Lehigh, Minersville, and Cardinal Brennan
Girls Tournament will start Friday, December 28, 2001 6:00 PM with the semi-finals round.
Saturday, December 29, 2001 starting at 2PM with a Junior Varsity double header, Consolation game 6 PM and the Final game at 7:30 PM
Girl Teams – Panther Valley, Kutztown, Minersville, and Shenandoah.

 B.   Motion by Bernie Ogozalek seconded by Nancy Van Horn to donate $50.00 to the Cazzie Kosciolek Scholarship fund to be used for Panther Valley students.  Motion passed.
